I have been searching for spiritual growth and enlightenment off and on for decades. I own an extensive library of philosophical, religious, and self-help books, which I have read in an attempt to understand God through years of intellectual exploration. While this has been interesting and even enlightening in many ways, it was impersonal and ultimately unfulfilling. I’ve also attended a variety of churches, searching for a comfortable but challenging place to get to know God. But as a person who questions everything, I often felt judged, unwelcomed or out of place. I had given up on organized religion and decided that I was just going to be the best person I could be and let the chips fall where they may. But a Christian friend of mine began talking to me about her faith and encouraged me to reconsider going to church. I visited a few places, but it wasn’t until I came to Sycamore Creek Church that I felt it all start to come together for me. At SCC I found a place where the weekly sermons were thought-provoking and applicable to my daily life… a place where I can ask tough questions and get non-judgmental answers and guidance for further study… a place where I am challenged to grow and serve… a place that meets the spiritual needs of my children … and a place where I not only feel welcomed but at home. Because of this church, for once in my life I can honestly say that I have a personal and meaningful relationship with Christ that actually impacts my attitudes, choices and goals in life.
